The most uncivilized activity of the civilized world is gossiping. Even the most educated and the so-called elite indulge in this uncivilized activity. Gossip is ruthless entertainment. In gossip, the tongue and the intelligence are let loose. In more than one way, gossiping is vulgar indulgence. In fact, people come together to form associations and clubs, and gossiping is the lifeline for their fellowship. The most dominant preoccupation of these groups is to discuss about those who aren't present. Never trust a gossiper. After you leave, the one who was gossiping with you will gossip about you with others. Every gossiper will gossip about other gossipers, and this is the noble truth. Hypocrites are those who sweet-talk on the face and bad-mouth behind your back. We shamelessly distort the images of people through gossip, without the slightest care about how much it might affect their lives. Millions of lives will be saved from suicide if gossipers only choose to be of moral support to the emotionally hurt, rather than making news out of them. Gossip is judgment passed out of half knowledge. Every gossiper eventually drinks his own poison. He becomes highly other people conscious. His mind is curious all the time - “What are others saying about me?” Judge not and ye shall not be judged. The contrary is also true. Judge and ye too will be judged. Gossipers no more live life through their own spectacles, but instead live to satisfy the spectacles of others. As I had written in one of the Awakenings, “Curiosity and inquisitiveness are the lifelines for human evolution. When this thirst and hunger for knowledge is canalized towards realizing the higher realities of life, growth happens. We make a blunder by feeding this very thirst and hunger for knowledge with gossip. Aristotle, Freud, JK and us - the quest to know is the same. If they had been gossipers, they would have been among us. If we can stop gossiping, we an be among them.” What does a lion have to do among the cats? The next time the gang around you begins to gossip, just walk away. Refuse to speak or hear about those who are not present, especially when what is discussed is judgmental, negative and insensitive. Let our rapture not come at the cost of rupturing the hearts of other people. Great minds discuss ideas. Average minds discuss events. Small minds discuss people.

could be watching your breathing (vipasana), regulating your breath (pranayama), chanting a mantra (japam), focusing on your chosen deity (bhakti) or just watching a glowing lamp or the waves in the sea. Hold your mind on a single point for few minutes every day. If you want to train a wild elephant, it has to first be tamed. Practicing 'concentration of mind' will progressively tame your mind.Then, nurture your mind with quality thoughts. From where do you source quality thoughts? Read self-help books (knowledge authored by great people), scriptures (wisdom of the messiahs) or listen to discourses (thoughts of realised beings). From the time you wake up to the time you go back to sleep, people who are themselves lost, confused and messed up in life keep influencing your mind. This unsolicited trespassing has to be countered by investing a few minutes with the legends of our time, so that you may be influenced by them. Without absenteeism, invest a few minutes every day on this intellectual treat - reading the thoughts and listening to the words of great people.And finally, without absenteeism, analyse your experiences at the end of every day. At the end of every day, just before you go to sleep, order a mental march past of all the experiences you went through in the day.

Recall each experience. Mentally pat yourself wherever you think you were right. Attempt a selfanalysis wherever you think you were wrong. In your own judgement, wherever you think you were wrong, weak or at fault, ask yourself what else you could have done instead; with what virtue you could have countered this weakness, and what can be done to correct that fault. Within days, you will be amazed to realise that you are not repeating the same mistakes (though there is always scope for new mistakes), and there is a new found motivation to do what is right, again and again. This is the process of introspection - looking into your actions and thereby gaining insight into your thoughts. While in all studies, the mind studies the subject, the beauty of introspection is that the mind itself becomes the object of study. Introspection awakens your inner voice. If you give life to your inner voice, then your inner voice will give life to you. “To him that hath, shall be given” is the law. The more we process thoughts of health, wealth, love, bliss and enlightenment, the more powerful will be the attraction for kindred things. So by improving the quality of thoughts, you will improve the quality of your mind, which in turn will result in an improvement in the quality of your life.

In fact, if you had no fear you would have been dead long ago.Face your fears and understand them. Use your fear as a guide to help you understand and prepare for a challenge and not as an excuse for abandoning it. It is important to be brave in the face of fear and act in spite of it. Confidence is your belief that you will make it through in spite of your fear. You destroy confidence by giving in to fear, and you destroy fear by giving in to confidence. It is okay to be afraid, but it is not okay to escape. Face it. Courage is not the absence of fear, but the ability to go ahead in spite of
fear.That which you do not face controls you, and that which controls you causes fear in you. You think you avoid public speaking because you fear it; in reality, because you are not facing the public, you develop fear of the public. You do not avoid your dad because you fear him; because you avoid him, you begin to fear him. Just because we are going to die one day, we don't stop living. Just because you fear something,don't stop facing it.So what's the solution? If I have to kill a lion, I have to face it. Repeatedly face what you fear and fear will be vanquished. For example, if you invested one fifty thousand rupees and bought an 'x' company shares for 500rupees/share then you will have 100 shares.
